Reconfigurable dielectric resonators with imbedded impedance surfaces—From enhanced and directional to suppressed scattering

Resonant elements play a vital role in tailoring of the radiation and scattering properties devices, such as antennas functional material platforms. We presently demonstrate simple resonator that supports multitude states. The is hybrid structure consisting finite-height dielectric cylinder integrated with concentric impedance surface. Given its configuration, we apply classical Lorentz–Mie theory to analyze analytically. Through careful tuning geometry, found support enhanced directive states well suppressed also known anapole A prototype has been built tested at microwave frequencies. It utilizes water metallic tube periodic slits Exploiting flexibility water, design easily reconfigured for different responses: fully filled, scatter predominantly forward direction, whereas an state emerges significant reduction when partially filled water. Consequently, proposed may be great interest within broad area antenna platforms, encompassing not only obvious frequencies but THz- optical domain using high-permittivity dielectrics graphene/nano-particle surfaces.
